About Us
The college was founded in 1951 by V. O. Chidambaram Educational Society after the great freedom-fighter V. O. Chidambaram. V. O. Chidambaram College is a campus for excellence, innovation, and diversity. Recognized under UGC 2f and 12B, The Quality of the education imparted by the Institution has been proved by the grades obtained in NAAC. NAAC has accredited the college with “A” grades in the continuous three cycles viz., 2004, 2011 and 2017 with ‘A’ grades and a score of 3.22 and 3.31 out of 4 in the last two cycles. It is ranked 68th position in the National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF) in India. Spread over a sprawling 65 acres of land, V.O.Chidambaram College is the gateway for education for the downtrodden youth of this area. The college was and has remained a secular and non-commercial campus despite numerous challenges to its founding spirit.

Research Capability and Focus Area
Our College has research projects funded by UGC, DST, ICAR, etc., and frequently conducting seminars, conferences, workshops, and symposia. Total number of publications from 2017 is more than 880 and 562 book chapters. We have research publications in esteemed journals like Scopus, Springer, Elsevier, and web of science.
