About Us
The Central University of Punjab was established in 2009 by an Act of Parliament (No 25, of 2009). It is set up in the rural area at village Ghudda, Bathinda District. The University is accredited with 'A+' grade from NAAC in 2nd cycle in the year 2023. The university has secured a slot in the top 100 in the NIRF rankings for six consecutive years with 83rd rank in year 2024 in the university category. It is ISO certified for Quality Management Systems under ISO 9001:2015; has received 4 Star from GRIHA. University has been awarded third prize from Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt. of India under Campus usage of Water Category in 2023. Ministry of Youth and Parliamentary Affairs, GoI has declared us winners twice consecutively in National Youth Parliament Competition.
It has a mission of providing a wide range of instructional and research facilities across the disciplines, promoting innovation in teaching-learning and research, and cross-pollinating new ideas, technologies and new world-views. It aims to create an ignited and inclusive workforce responsive to regional, national and global needs in tune with the requirements of society, academia and industry. It is envisaged to respond dynamically and creatively towards shifting paradigms in education to meet the changing needs of the evolving society.
Area of Excellence
The holistic, inclusive and multi-disciplinary approach in the University campus provides an academically ambient environment to develop technically up-to-date and socio-economically relevant citizens. CUP is a multi-cultural mini India as students from more than 25 States and 7 UTs; international students from 20 countries; faculty from 24 states and non-teaching staff from 12 states have joined hands to make the university a Centre of Excellence. Every Science faculty has research lab of own for conducting research. Every new science faculty is sanctioned Rs. 3.0 lakhs and others Rs. 1.5 lakhs under Research Seed Money scheme of the University for initiating research activities
Research Capability and Focus Area
University has set-up state-of-the-art Central Instrumentation Facility. Nine Departments of the University are DST-FIST supported. Department of Science & Technology has sanctioned fund under its DST-PURSE scheme and Department of Biotechnology under its E-YUVA Scheme. University has also set-up DST’s Nidhi i-TBI for incubating business ideas leading to start-ups. Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship has recognized us the status as a Deemed Awarding Body (Dual category) for imparting and certifying skill training as per NEP & NCrF.

University has eleven Schools of Studies having 31 departments and offering 5 UG, 44 PG and 40 PhD programs.
